Do you remember the first Disney Princess you wanted to be? I do….

Cinderella.

It is a tale that had me spellbound. I guess it still does.  It has the rest of the world spellbound too because it is one repeated in movie after movie after movie. Of course, these days Cinderella is likely to be a struggling Uni student and Prince Charming is the local butcher who searches the world…. or at least Facebook ….. until he finds her. But the story is the same…true love and a kind, pure heart can conquer all.

Brave [PG]

The latest offering from Disney Pixar looks gloriously offbeat. A little Scottish Princess with wild red hair and a fiery disposition to match, refuses to tow the line to the exasperation of her parents and all those around her. She cannot understand why she can’t do what she wants to do, which appears to be archery. Of course, you get the feeling this is most unbecoming to a well brought up young lady who is expected to one day be a well brought up young wife to some boring old Scottish Prince.

Our lass, Princess Merida, will hopefully become a fully fledged Disney Princess, wild red hair and fiery disposition included. Fingers crossed….. IMDB says:

Set in Scotland in a rugged and mythical time, “Brave” features Merida, an aspiring archer and impetuous daughter of royalty. Merida makes a reckless choice that unleashes unintended peril and forces her to spring into action to set things right.
